- Buying German books - is EBL for you?
Eurobuchlogistik GmbH, Formerly known as EBL, was established in 2008.
EBL was created as separate private joint venture combining ownership from Worldwide Book Services Ltd (WBS) & International Book Services Gmbh (IBS). The vision was to establish and provide consolidation and shipping services for the German publishing sector primarily with focus on the Eastern European markets.
- Importance of Barcoding
A developed barcode system can considerably increase both productivity and performance levels of any company - Worldwide Book Services are no exception. From 2009, the continued increase in new business, particularly the daily European Express services, had the effect of rendering our previous manual processing methods gradually obsolete. The important decision was then taken to create our own bespoke system of barcoding specifically for Book Consolidation and the Book Industry, thus setting us apart from the competition and giving us advantages not available from "off the shelf" third party systems.

WBS once again attended Frankfurt Book Fair in October. We really enjoy seeing our customers in person - one to one contact and communication is the best way to find out how Worldwide Book Services are performing and fulfilling customer requirements across all our markets.
- A wireless solution provided by our computer system
With our expansion into an additional warehouse, we were set the challenge of delivering our in-house warehouse systems to a neighbouring facility. Moving part of our processing operation outside our main building, (albeit only a hundred metres or so distant) posed the problem to our IT team of continuing to provide full services to our users without the use of typical communication channels.
- Proud of Our Strucured Growth
With previous experience in the freight forwarding industry, WBS was formed in 2003 by Managing Director Paul Knight, Director Simon Taylor and Office Manager, Gill Newson. Worldwide Book Services has expanded over the past 8 years, offering services such as media and book consolidation and shipping to locations all around the world. Markets covered include the USA, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and the UK itself. Developing an international network, we now have sister companies, agent and partner offices in Russia, Sweden, Italy, France, USA, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece and Turkey.
- Apprentices
Here at WBS, we hire apprentices in order to give young people in the catchment area an opportunity to learn whilst working and may then potentially offer a full-time placement prior completion. We currently have 4 apprentices on the team and a remaining 2 have continued to work here after the completion of their course. As a first full time job, we have seen fresh minded, keen workers without bad habits from previous jobs but more importantly are witnessing them grow and mould a good work ethic with the help of other colleagues at WBS. We are without a doubt very proud of the apprentice's, and the contribution to their work.

In 1440 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press and the first book printed was the Bible. Before this all books were handwritten, each book was a work of art often featuring beautiful illustration and elaborate calligraphy. Books were expensive treasures available only to the wealthy.
- Digital Scales
As our purpose built processing systems become bigger and better we are constantly striving to improve the accuracy of both our data entry and the weight and measurement calculation fundamental to our services. Our most recent improvement is the introduction and installation of three new platform digital scales. Each is capable of weighing super accurately up to 3000 kilos, ensuring that every book pallet we process is correctly weighed to within 1 kilo, and that the manifests and delivery documentation submitted to our customers, hauliers, and agents, is as precise as possible.
- Frankfurt Book Fair 2011
Frankfurt Book Fair is once again upon us and it does not seem so long ago when Worldwide Book Services was exhibiting there for the very first time back in 2003. Things have certainly progressed for us during the last 9 years as this year our stand will be 40 square metres!
